Amitabh Bhargava, B. Tech., MBA, CFA, FRM, CRC, is a banker with two-plus decades of experience creating value for wholesale and consumer lending businesses and leads Credit Portfolio Management practice for SRA. He helps SRA clients set up, assess and refine best practice credit risk strategy, risk governance, improved portfolio structure, risk appetite, limit structure, data strategy, credit cycle dashboards, downturn preparedness strategy, portfolio risk mitigation tools, ESG/sustainability strategy and model calibration process spanning risk rating, pricing and stress testing models. Amitabh advises credit investors to identify forward-looking indicators using data analytics-driven economic, sectoral, and competitive analytical framework highlighting efficiency and automation opportunities in alignment with SRA’s extensive work in risk aggregation, automation, efficiency, stress testing, and M&A due diligence. Most recently, Amitabh oversaw credit analytics and research for Capital One’s wholesale portfolio, identifying emerging risks and influencing key risk acceptance and avoidance decisions. In prior roles at Capital One, Amitabh supervised executive credit risk assessment, Risk MIS development, rating agency communication, BOD communication and portfolio modeling for both wholesale and retail portfolio of Capital One. Amitabh started his career as a commercial underwriter and relationship manager at ICICI Bank, India where he conducted a techno-financial and economic appraisal and underwriting from an investment perspective; and developed pricing and capital allocation tools. Amitabh is an accredited Credit Risk Certified (RMA-CRC) professional, Financial Risk Manager (GARP), CFA Charter holder, and a Board member of RMA Richmond. He is also a past president of the Richmond Association of Business Economics (www.RABEva.org) and served on the Regulatory Steering Committee of the International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers (www.iacpm.org). Amitabh received a B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India and earned his MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur, India.
